The CDC estimates 10 million cases, 4800 deaths and 870,000 hospitalizations. How the Flu Spreads - Person to Person People with flu can spread it to others up to about 6 feet away. Most experts think that flu viruses spread mainly by droplets made when people with flu cough, sneeze or talk. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs. Less often, a person might get flu by touching a surface or object that has flu virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes. When Flu Spreads People with flu are most contagious in the first three to four days after their illness begins. Most healthy adults may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 5 to 7 days after becoming sick. Children and some people with weakened immune systems may pass the virus for longer than 7 days. Symptoms can begin about 2 days (but can range from 1 to 4 days) after the virus enters the body. That means that you may be able to pass on the flu to someone else before you know you are sick, as well as while you are sick. Some people can be infected with the flu virus but have no symptoms. During this time, those people may still spread the virus to others. Period of Contagiousness You may be able to pass on flu to someone else before you know you are sick, as well as while you are sick. Click here to view the map Cheyenne Schools Foundation - 2019 Run It is once again time to put on your walking/running shoes and gather your family for the benefit of all LCSD#1students! This year’s Run for #1 has a new home, Johnson Junior High School and will be held on Saturday, October 5. Registration opens at 8:00am in the cafeteria and the race starts at 9:00am at the track. The Run for #1 is a non-timed 5K Fun-Run to benefit Laramie County School District 1. There will be no official timing of the event. It is a great opportunity to spend time together and exercise! WHY YOU SHOULD SUPPORT THE RUN FOR #1: • In addition to being a fun family event, the Run for #1 raises funds for the Cheyenne Schools Foundation. • All funds raised go towards grants to classroom teachers in District 1. • The Cheyenne Schools Foundation has provided over $45,000 to classroom teachers in the last two years. We anticipate having $40,000 available for funding this year. • Your school can earn money just for participating: • Each elementary, junior high and high school with the highest student participation will get $500.Each elementary, junior high and high school that raises the most money will get $500.
